Why we peer at the exchange, not near it
When people ask how a five-region network can feel fast, the honest answer is boring: we put our nodes inside the major internet exchanges rather than a cheap rack a few hops away.
Being present at DE-CIX, AMS-IX, PLIX, Netnod and France-IX means the path between a viewer and our cache is often a single hop. For media that translates directly into faster time-to-first-byte and steadier throughput during peaks — the moments that actually matter for a live event or a popular VOD title.
It also makes failover cheap. When a transit link wobbles, shifting a region traffic to the next-closest exchange is a routing decision, not a scramble. Our 12 August latency blip in Warsaw was exactly that: 22 minutes, zero failed requests, traffic quietly served from Frankfurt and Amsterdam.
